Deebo Samuel Defends QB Brock Purdy Against Criticism from ESPN’s Ryan Clark
It’s safe to say that San Francisco 49ers wide receiver Deebo Samuel is fed up with the criticism of quarterback Brock Purdy. On Instagram, Samuel ripped ESPN analyst and former NFL star Ryan Clark, who went on First Take and asked again if Purdy could deliver San Francisco to the promised land.
Clark, who tweeted over the weekend that he doesn’t know how Purdy can beat the likes of Lamar Jackson or Patrick Mahomes in the Super Bowl, doubled down on his appearance on First Take, calling it “the hardest thing” he’s had to do. do do do this season to keep Purdy among the best quarterbacks in the game.
That rubbed Samuel and the rest of the 49ers the wrong way.”I’ve never seen so much hate for a QB who leads the league in almost every category,” Samuel wrote on his Instagram story. 49ers recruit Brandon Ayiuk also told analysts they need to “turn the tape on” on Purdy.
Purdy and the Niners probably won’t be able to silence the doubters without winning a championship. But Purdy’s performance over the weekend against the Packers quelled some of the anger and, if nothing else, had 49ers fans singing Purdy’s praises for another week..
