49ers Adjust Roster for Washington Matchup Amidst Injuries
The San Francisco 49ers take on the Washington Commanders on the road in Week 17 as they look to bounce back from their Christmas loss to the Baltimore Ravens. But they will do so without several key players, as the 49ers ruled out defensive end Arik Armstead (foot, knee), safety Ji’Ayir Brown (knee), wide receiver Jauan Jennings (concussion), forward Jaylon Moore (concussion). and tight end Ross Dwelly (ankle) on Friday.
On Saturday, the 49ers waived another player: wideout Danny Gray, whose practice window opened this week for the first time since playing on Injured Reserve. As a result, the 49ers will call up two players from the practice squad for Sunday’s game: safety Erik Harris and wide receiver Tay Martin.
Harris was called up last week after safety George Odum was injured and now starter Ji’Ayir Brown could be counted on outside. Martin moves into receiver depth as the 49ers now have two active positions down in Jennings and Gray. The 49ers received some good news during an injury-riddled week, as left tackle Trent Williams was not on the injury report Friday. He suffered a groin injury against the Ravens.
