49ers Fans Speculate on Super Bowl Loss: Was It Luck or Unfortunate Circumstances?”

There’s never a good time to try to get better about that Super Bowl loss, but I know it helps a lot of you to say that the Chiefs got lucky. Now look, saying the team was lucky and “wasn’t better” is bad form. Almost as bad as “You didn’t hit them, they hit themselves”.Except, there might be some truth to it.

The Athletic’s David Lombardi got the top pick on the teams in the playoffs since 2018 from Tom Bliss, who finds all kinds of weird stats. Bliss has played 80 teams in the NFL playoffs since 2018, 80 in total… look who’s #1: Considering the Chiefs have returned six of seven punts, I agree that luck was on their side, but this is football and the 49ers won.

It doesn’t seem like a luck factor, but even if it wasn’t, I can’t even customize my characters in a JRPG to have that kind of luck. Saying “Chiefs got lucky” is still a bad idea, but there are actually some facts behind it if we look at the above. Basically, the 2023 49ers, one of the unluckiest teams of the past six years, lost to the luckiest team of that span.Notice how it starts in 2018.

I wonder if they will go further than the Seattle Seahawks position on the roster. The Chiefs played eerily similar to the antics we’ve seen with Seattle teams. Then Seattle won a Super Bowl in the last two decades, but the 49ers didn’t.The 49ers had some amazing moments on offense and even defense, but they were unlucky. You think it’s better to be happy than good..
