Aiyuk Hits 1,000 Yards; Kittle and Samuel Eye Milestone Against Washington

The San Francisco 49ers have two receivers with a chance to break the 1,000-yard mark this Sunday against the Washington Commander. If both do, they also won’t be the team’s first receiver to do so in 2023. Wide receiver Brandon Aiyuk already surpassed the 1,000-yard mark in Week 12 against the Seattle Seahawks. That alone is worth saying.

He is currently at 1,203 yards on the season. Two others have a chance to join him: tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Deebo Samuel, who need 9 and 166 yards, respectively. With only 9 yards needed, one or two passes from George Kittle should be enough to get him to 1,000 yards. Samuel, on the other hand, may need this game and the final game against the Los Angeles Rams to get there.

Deebo has just three games over 100 yards in 2023, none of which went over 150 yards. That said, if there’s a game where Samuel can break out and hit the 1K mark, it’s the Washington Commanders. The Commander’s pass defense is dead last in DVOA at 32.

To add to the injuries, the Commanders are without cornerbacks Kendall Fuller and Benjamin St-Juste. It’s also worth noting that Brock Purdy is the first 49er since Jeff Garcia to reach 4,000 passing yards in a season (that long?). This is all in Week 16, so NFL overtime isn’t the reason the stats are inflated.

Many may think that this game can be a trap. Especially when the 49ers injuries pile up. They are favored by 13.5 points nationally at 10 am. start time Not to mention the 49ers might be totally mad about how their Christmas Day game against the Baltimore Ravens ended. Hopefully they get the W and put up more impressive offensive numbers in the process.
