Brady’s Surprise Pick: McCaffrey for NFL MVP
Former New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady may be spending his playing days in the rearview mirror, but he still knows a thing or two about winning NFL Most Valuable Player.
Brady’s role as an up-and-coming Fox Sports analyst lends more credence to his opinion, but he’s also won the award, winning it three times in his incredible 23-year career.
His andquot;Letand#039;s Go!andquot; podcast, the seven-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback revealed who he’s voting for to win the award. Perhaps to the surprise of some, Brady did not choose a quarterback. Instead, he named San Francisco 49ers linebacker Christian McCaffrey as his top choice. andquot; The first time I remember seeing Christian for the first time was in the Rose Bowl, andquot; Brady said of McCaffrey. andquot; He was a dynamic player then.
He’s a dynamic player now and I think a lot of what he’s done this year is from his past. It’s a different team with different options and they were really dynamic in attack. andquot; So, I think he’s definitely an MVP favorite, and so is his quarterback, Brock Purdy, who says wonderful things about him.andquot; The sixth-year shortstop, formerly of Stanford, has quickly become a name in the MVP conversation in recent weeks.
Despite a star-studded roster that includes top prospects and quarterback Brock Purdy, McCaffrey has put together an impressive season. McCaffrey leads the league with 1,292 yards and 13 touchdowns through 14 games, adding another 509 yards and seven scores out of the backfield.
McCaffreyand#039; His 1,292 yards puts him just 95 yards short of tying his career high, while he needs two more scores to match the same in touchdowns.
