Commanders’ Brissett Game-Time Decision, Howell on Standby vs. 49ers

The Washington Commanders could be without quarterback Jacoby Brissett this weekend against the San Francisco 49ers. Brissett was a surprise to the team and an injury report earlier this week, and according to a report released Saturday morning, his condition has not dramatically improved.

 

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler reported Saturday that Brissett “is shaping up for a game-time decision” and that “Sam Howell is ready to start if Brissett can’t go Sunday against San Francisco.” Situation 4-11 The commanders are in the finals and playing for pride.

“What you hope for is your leadership to step up and they did and that was great to see,” said Commandersand#039; head coach Ron Rivera and lost to the New York Jets 30-28 last week.

“It was really on the defensive side, watching John Allen and Darren Payne and Cam Curl and Cody. Jacoby Brissett led the team to the brink of victory.

The game also marks a reunion of sorts for defensive lineman Chase Young, who was traded by the team to the 49ers on trade day. “They’re definitely a team that’s going to fight until the end. I know that. So we just have to do well,” Young told reporters this week.

“I think it’s a really good locker room. I think we’ve definitely had fun in the locker room,” via the 49ers’ Web Zone. The Chiefs are expected to address defensive back depth, offensive line, tight end and quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
