The Philadelphia Eagles are currently in second place in the NFC East. Their defensive coordinator Sean Desai was removed from the ranks and assistant Matt Patricia became the Eagles defensive lineman.
According to Pro Football Talk, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni discussed the move following the team’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
He also agreed on the need to improve defenses. According to PFT, Sirianni said, “I made a decision. I did what I thought I had to do in the best interest of the football team. We made some adjustments there. I didn’t feel like we played and coached well enough defensively, so I made an adjustment. It was my decision and I made it.” The head coach also revealed that the decision is made by Patricia but Desai is also involved in the decisions. Additional information:
“Matt currently makes all final decisions. As disappointed as Sean was, I think he acted like a true professional. Sean continues to be an asset to this football team because he has a clear mind and he can help, and when I listened to the defense today, they communicated back and forth much like they would when switching roles. The Eagles have lost their last three games as they tasted defeat at the San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks. However, they defeated the Buffalo Bill and Kansas City Chiefs. The next game will be against the New York Giants.
