The Philadelphia Eagles have been the talk of the NFL through the 2022 season and the first 11 weeks of the 2023 season, but are now trying to dig themselves out of a three-game losing streak. Their most recent loss to the Seattle Seahawks was heartbreaking. The quarterback gave up multiple 3rd and 10+ plays to win the game because it took the play-calling responsibilities away from Sean Desai and gave them to Matt Patricia. The offense scored just 17 points and continues to look out of sync. However, the loss had an extra kick when Seahawks safety Julian Loveand’s comments about Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni back in February came back. andquot;Heand#039;is a person who does a really good job, because good#039; does not hinder his team, andquot; Love said on NFL Network and Good Morning Football. andquot;He has an experienced roster top to bottom — offense, defense… They have a talented roster and [Sirianni] will do his best. I think it’s a player and#039; league and he just takes a step back and lets his team play…andquot;
Sirianni’s meddling results in fourth quarter collapse
It’s terribly ironic that Loveand’s earlier comments focused on Sirianni and the hands-off approach, only for the head coach to switch defensive players before Monday night and the contest. . And part of the result was a fourth-quarter collapse in which Drew Lock led the Seahawks’ offense 92 yards for the game-winning touchdown. What happened to be a 29-yard bomb to Jaxson Smith-Njigba over James Bradberry in man coverage. Yes, defense was a problem in this game. I mean, the unit allowed 109 points in three straight games before Week 15. This is a big problem. But Monday’s contest is now the third straight game in which the Eagles’ offense has allowed 19 points or less. That’s accomplished after averaging 28 points per game through the first 11 games of the season and scoring 19 or fewer points just once during that span. Obviously, the offense has issues as well. So why focus directly on defense? Sirianni decided to hand over the pitching duties to Shane Steichen in 2021, and we all know how that worked out. Love was the star on Monday night, recording the first multi-hit game of his career. Another big layer is added when you realize it was aimed at a head coach he publicly criticized before signing with the Hawks. Siranni seems to have put his hand in the wrong pot before the Eaglesand#039; trip to the west coast. He tried to intervene and fix something, but it didn’t work. There is still time to see how everything works, but it should start at 16 weeks. Otherwise, there is a lot to say about Siranni.
