Embiid Sidelined Again: Sixers Star to Miss Magic Clash with Ankle Injury

Philadelphia 76ers MVP Joel Embiid missed the team’s Christmas Day game against the Miami Heat after suffering an ankle injury against the Toronto Raptors on Friday night. Now, Embiid misses the Sixersand#039; Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic, according to Keith Pompey of The Philadelphia Inquirer. Embiid did not travel with the team to Florida for the game against the Heat and will remain away from the team to receive treatment for an injured ankle.

 

No word yet on whether the superstar center will be with the Sixers when they face the Houston Rockets later this week. Embiid will miss Wednesday night for the fifth time this season. According to the league and the new collective bargaining agreement, the Philadelphia star must play at least 65 games this season to win the MVP award, which he currently holds. Embiid has been dominant in 25 games this season. He has scored at least 20 points in every game he has played, and Embiid leads the league with 35.0 points per game this season. Even more impressive, Embiid has scored at least 30 points and grabbed 10 rebounds in 13 straight games. It’s the longest streak in the league since Kareem Abdul-Jabbar’s 16-game hitting streak in the 1970s.
