McCaffrey’s Playful Swipe: 49ers Star Trolls USC Fans with Pac-12 Flashback
Coming off an MVP-caliber season from 49ers running back Christian McCaffrey, the 27-year-old had to reminisce about his electrifying Stanford days. While arranging merchandise for the Fanatics social media team, the Cardinals big man found a USC Trojans hat, which McCaffrey hilariously resented.
“What the hell?” McCaffrey laughed in amazement. “That’s what you’re doing it for? I’m not signing it.” At first, McCaffrey refused to sign the hat. But his creative knowledge took over. “Do you know what I’m putting?” McCaffrey asked angrily.
“I was watching the score from the 2015 Pac-12 Championship game. Trying to play fast? Who’s the USC guy here? No one? A camera? Are you Pac-12?” McCaffrey continued his prank on Fanatics and Trojans fans by listing his dominant stats from the 2015 Pac-12 title games between Stanford and USC.
“Stanford 41, USC 22,” McCaffrey yelled. “Let’s look at some information about the game. I don’t know if I even remember this game. CMC, 461 all-purpose yards, receiving touchdown, rushing, passing touchdown.” McCaffrey broke Barry Sanders’ single-season passing yardage record with 3,864 yards. He had a game-high 207 yards rushing, 105 receiving yards and 149 punting and punting while also throwing a touchdown pass.
Leading San Francisco to an impressive 11-4 record, McCaffrey had to protect his Cardinal pride by trolling the Trojans. Fans thought it could be a quick shot for the Stanford star, but McCaffrey refused to sleep.
