Niners Look to Bounce Back Against Washington
Despite leading the San Francisco 49ers on Christmas Eve, the Baltimore Ravens remain atop the NFC heading into a Week 17 matchup with the Washington Commanders.
The Niners didn’t look like a team entering a high-profile matchup with the top team in the AFC on a six-game winning streak, as they played uncharacteristically poorly on both offense and defense in a 33-19 loss. While Christian McCaffrey played well for 131 yards and a touchdown, NFL MVP candidate Brock Purdy did not.
Coming into the game with just seven interceptions on the season, the second-year signal caller threw four for the Ravens defense, which scored in the fifth quarter after Purdy was replaced by Sam Darnold.
As for San Francisco’s defense, Steve Wilksand#039; unit gave up a season-high 33 points in the loss as Lamar Jackson boosted his MVP chances with 252 passing yards and two touchdowns while adding 45 of the Ravensand#039; 102 rushing yards. It will be much easier for the Niners to succeed in Week 17 against Washington. And with a Commander win and some help, they can lock up the #1 seed in the NFC.
