Ravens Face 49ers in Christmas Eve Battle: Top Player Bets

The Baltimore Ravens (+6) travel to San Francisco this week for a big game against the 49ers on Christmas Eve. At 11-3, those two opponents sit atop their respective conferences and are tied for the best record in the league. The Ravens are a rare underdog in this spot, as the 49ers are favored to win by five points. Here are some of the best player bets in this important conflict. All odds courtesy of DraftKings Sportsbook.

Gus Edwards over 46.5 rushing + receiving yards (-115)

Edwards hit a late-season break in recent weeks, rushing for 26 yards or less on three of four carries through Week 15. That collapse coincided with Keaton Mitchell’s expanded role in the backfield. However, Edwards returned last Sunday with 58 yards and a touchdown against the Jacksonville Jaguars (-1) Bet $10 on the JAC’s fourth-ranked rushing defense. He added 11 more yards through the air as a receiver. With Mitchell now out of the lineup, Edwards’ workload should increase significantly again.

This matchup against the 49ers, who boast the second-ranked defense in the league, won’t be great. However, the Ravens will likely be committed to the run in an attempt to nullify San Francisco’s offense and time of possession. Edwards has an over/under rushing yardage projection of 39.5 and a passer rating of -130. Instead, you can bet his combined rushing and receiving yards will be over 46.5, with the pass rated at a slightly better -115. He’s not a typical punt receiver, but he can top 46.5 yards on the ground based on volume alone. In 10 games with double-digit touchdowns this season, Edwards eclipsed that mark in all but one.

Lamar Jackson over 10.5 rushing attempts (+110)

Jackson’s rushing attempts have crept up in recent weeks, as he’s carried the ball more than 11 times in three straight games. He averaged less than nine passes per game before Week 12, but is now nearly 10 after the last three weeks.
