New York Giants UDFA rookie quarterback Tommy DeVito has become very popular in his home state of New Jersey, coming out of “nowhereand#039;and#039; – Well, New Jersey – becoming a national hero and #1 QB as a team.
Everything fell apart, at least temporarily, when on Christmas Day the Giants and#039; In a 33-25 loss at the Philadelphia Eagles, the kid went down in favor of Tyrod Taylor. And Tom DeVito Sr. don’t understand it “I thought he was hurt,” DeVito’s father told the New York Post. “Maybe something happened. He would usually text me at half time when he was injured or something, so I didn’t get any of it.
Then I heard it the same way you heard it from the sideline reporter: “Coach’s decision.” It never occurred to Dad that the lowly Giants would crush the playoff-bound Eagles until… well, the Eagles almost tripped when Taylor helped the Giants turn it around.
“I guess the offense wasn’t doing much, so they tried something else and #039;and#039; dad said… and yeah. That and completely agree. DeVito completed 9 of 16 passes for 55 yards before being benched. Meanwhile, Taylor passed for 133 yards, a touchdown and an interception.
Weand#039;ve always thought it was a very, very bad idea for family members to dive into stories like this. Mom, dad, wife, whoever. That’s not to say the Eagles have room to point fingers at dysfunction in playoff games (see link below) … but pro teams tend to run more smoothly when mom, dad, wife, whoever takes on the orange slices that don’t is responsible for expressing opinions during the game.
