Ravens vs. 49ers: Christmas Day Showdown
The Baltimore Ravens face perhaps one of the best teams in football, the San Francisco 49ers, on Christmas Day. The game pits the two No. 1 seeds against each other in what is sure to be a bruising contest.
The 49ers have a ton of offensive weapons in Christian McCaffrey, Deebo Samuel, George Kittle and Brandon Aiyuki, but somehow Brock Purdy avoids the spotlight. For some, Purdy is leading the MVP conversation, while for others, he is a product of the guns around him and is using that to negate his candidacy.
But Ravens head coach John Harbaugh knows how well Purdy is playing right now. andquot;I see a very good quarterback playing at a very high level, leading a very high-level offense to have great success, andquot; Harbaugh said. andquot;Heand#039;plays winning football and works in his style.
He sees things, gets the ball out quickly, makes every throw, throws a nice ball, moves in the pocket, climbs, throws when needed and uses the system very well. Everything their coaches definitely want to see in a quarterback and I’m sure he’ll do very well.andquot; The 49ers have a stranglehold on first place in the NFC, and Purdy’s play is the reason. He threw for 3,795 yards, 29 touchdowns and just seven interceptions while completing 69.8 percent of his passes and leading most major categories as well.
While some will point to all the weapons at his disposal, Purdy still needs to make it work, and through 14 weeks he has done so at a high level.
