PHILADELPHIA (CBS) – Since Nick Sirianni has been in Philadelphia, he has never been shy about showing his emotions.
The Eagles head coach celebrated after the Eagles forced the Indianapolis Colts to turn the ball over late in the fourth quarter. He jumped on the bench on the sideline and jumped some Eagles fans in the front row. He then walked onto the field and waved to some Colts fans.
But when Sirianni entered the locker room after Philadelphia’s 17-16 win over Indy, he was seen crying. Why was he so emotional after the victory that improved the Eagles to 9-1? andquot;I’m emotional because I love Frank Reich,andquot; Sirianni said. andquot;Goodness#039; is one of the best soccer coaches I
; once was I was hoping that he and I could coach against each other in this game, but he is one of my greatest coaches. I have my father, I have Larry Kehres, and I have Frank Reich. Frank is such a good football coach. You don’t want to know what I think, whether he should be here or not. As you can probably imagine what I really think.
I love him, so I got a little emotional about it.andquot; andquot;It was nice to see some guys I really care about – Quenton Nelson, Ryan Kelly and Parris Campbell. I got to talk to them after the game and Kenny Moore, so it means a lot when they say something.
Obviously I keep them to myself, but I spent a lot of time here. One of my children was born here. It was great to come here, especially with what’s happened to this organization over the last two weeks, and get a win. Profit. Leaving Indianapolis with a win.andquot; Reich, one of Sirianniand’s biggest mentors, was fired on November 7 due to Indyandi’s ugly start to the season. He was replaced by interim head coach Jeff Sarturday. Sirianni and Reichand#039; since 2013 with the San Diego Chargers as a coach. And when Reich left Philadelphia for the Colts#039; head coach in 2018 after winning the Super Bowl, he brought in Sirianni as his offensive coordinator. Sirianni was there for three seasons under Reich before taking the Eaglesand#039; work in 2021. The win over the Colts was, in a sense, a revenge game for Sirianni. He wanted to leave Indy with a win after one of his biggest mentors was fired weeks before they faced off. Mission accomplished. After the game, Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts gave Sirianni the game ball during his postgame speech. andquot;Coach doesn’t get enough credit for what he does and what he was for us,andquot; Hurts said. andquot;He does a great job. I’m glad he got that win.andquot;
