Julian Love’s Double Interception Boosts Seahawks’ Playoff Aspirations

Seattle Seahawks safety Julian Love had a defining moment in his first season in the Emerald City on Monday night. The Seahawks came into the game against the Philadelphia Eagles in desperate need of a win, having lost four straight and their playoff hopes fading. Things looked bad for Seattle in the fourth quarter, but then Love came to the rescue. The former New York Giants safety beat his old rival with two massive interceptions.

 

The first came on Jalen Hurts’ deep bomb intended for Quez Watkins in the end zone, and while Seattle didn’t score on its next drive, it was huge in keeping Philadelphia off the scoreboard. As if that wasn’t enough, he flew across the field for his second interception of the quarter and iced the game in the final seconds. Love’s first season in Seattle was up and down, but after Monday night, it’s all water under the bridge. andquot;I think my whole mindset in attacking football is whenever I’m out there, I make the most of it,andquot; Love told reporters after the game. andquot;Be productive, if I’m out of [coverage], and I’m trying to do something, and I have. Iand#039;jus was stable.andquot; Love and the Giants lost to the Eagles three times last season, including once in the playoffs, so this win felt especially good. When asked about the revenge factor of this game, Love gave all the credit to his new teammates.

Fortunately, I won this year.andquot; While the Seahawks still have a lot of work to do to turn their season around and make the playoffs, they now at least have a fighting chance thanks in large part to Love’s heroics.

andquot;It’s huge. December football is critical,andquot; Love said. andquot;You just need some energy and motivation and momentum at the end of the season. I think we needed that game. Nothing is certain going forward, we know that. We have to pass that juice on. A few plays here and there, the last few weeks have really let us down. This, I already know, will be
