Steelers Seek Modernization: Eye Rams’ Zac Robinson for Offensive Coordinator Role

The Steelers offense has been stuck in the past for several years, but they have done nothing to revitalize their time hiring in-house candidates year after year. That’s why it will finally end in 2024.

Pittsburgh is exploring outside options for its new offensive coordinator, head coach Mike Tomlin told reporters. According to NFL reporter Albert Breer, it started on Monday when the team wanted an interview with Rams passing game coordinator Zac Robinson.

The Steelers need a young offensive coordinator like Robinson to really modernize their offense. The 37-year-old has trained under head coach Sean McVay since joining Los Angeles in 2019.McVay and Kyle Shanahan’s offense has defined the modern NFL for years, and if Pittsburgh hires him, Robinson could bring what he’s learned to a team with a young and talented roster.

Question marks at quarterback aside, the Steelers offense has all the pieces to be one of the league’s #039;best.Najee Harris and Jaylen Warren form one of the best defensive back duos in the NFL, and the team has a lot of success in the passing game with wide receivers Diontae Johnson and George Pickens and tight end Pat Freiermuth.

The Rams had one of the league’s best rushing attacks, averaging the seventh most yards per game in 2023 (359.3). Robinson could change that for the Steelers, who have needed offensive success for some time. However, there is no guarantee that Pittsburgh will hire Robinson as their next coach.

He was a popular name in the NFL for teams looking for offensive coordinators.Robinson has reportedly already interviewed with the Saints, and the Bears, Patriots and Raiders have also expressed interest in him.Whether Robinson ends up with the Steelers or not, Pittsburgh has shown a willingness to take talent from some of the best coaching trees, a sign of growth as they realize they need outside help..
