Alabama Football: Jam Miller Talks Spring Practice and Running Back Depth
The Alabama Crimson Tide continued their spring practice on Wednesday, with the team’s running backs taking center stage. Junior running back Jam Miller, who’s expected to play a key role in the team’s offense this season, spoke to the media after practice, sharing his thoughts on the team’s progress and the competition at the running back position.

Miller, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries last season, expressed his excitement about the team’s new offense. “We’re just trying to get better every day,” Miller said. “We’re learning a new offense, and it’s been a challenge, but we’re all just trying to get better.”
When asked about the running back depth chart, Miller praised his teammates, particularly sophomore Richard Young. “Richard’s a great back,” Miller said. “He’s got a lot of speed, a lot of power. He’s going to do his thing.” Miller also mentioned freshman Justice Haynes, who’s been impressing coaches with his quickness and agility.
The competition at running back is fierce, but Miller welcomes the challenge. “It’s always good to have competition,” he said. “It pushes you to be your best. We’re all just trying to get better and help the team win.”
Miller also discussed the team’s new coaching staff, particularly running backs coach Robert Gillespie. “Coach Gillespie’s been great,” Miller said. “He’s taught us a lot, and we’re all learning from him.”
As the Crimson Tide continues their spring practice, Miller and the running backs will be under the microscope. With a new offense and a talented group of running backs, the competition will be fierce. But Miller’s confident in his team’s abilities. “We’re all just trying to get better,” he said. “We want to win championships, and we’re going to do whatever it takes to get there.”
The Crimson Tide will continue their spring practice on Friday, with the annual A-Day game scheduled for April 13.
