Trent Williams Injured in 49ers’ Loss to Raven

A Week 16 loss is bad enough for the San Francisco 49ers, but the NFCand#039’s top defensive player is out with multiple injuries after Monday night’s 33-19 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. There may be nothing more important to find out than All-Pro lefty Trent Williams. Williams left the game early in the second half with a groin injury and did not return. He will undergo an MRI on Tuesday to determine the severity, but Williams himself is confident that it is not serious. “I feel good. I know you want to ask me about the injury. I’m fine, Williams told Eric Branch. Williams didn’t speak to reporters after the game other than that little hiccup, but 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan said the linebacker wants to return to the game. The Niners’ medical staff advised against it, and Williams did not see the field for most of the second half.

The wrong time for injuries

As the 49ers were playing before the loss to the Ravens, it hurts to lose that momentum in a game like this when it’s a ghost. It stings even more with the number of injuries San Francisco will have to deal with as the playoffs approach. Not only is Trent Williams a concern, but two running backs were also injured in the game. The 49ers could be looking at a thin offensive line in Week 17 and will likely have to add more reinforcements.
