Warriors Struggle in Western Conference Playoff Race Despite Recent Improvement
It’s check-in time for our monthly Western Conference rankings, where we can see how the Golden State Warriors are doing in the team’s battle for the playoffs and the playoffs. Things were not pretty when I posted the last part of this exercise in early January.
Now we’ve moved the calendar to February and … well … things are even less pretty, folks. There is reason for optimism. Before a crucial five-game road trip, the Dubs started to play better. And after the NBA’s busiest schedule in the first half of the season, things have been slowing down here for a while. But luckily there is work.
So here we are, clean ratings adjusted for garbage time courtesy of Cleaning The Glass. The Wolves were the top seed when I first ran this exercise in late November. I said it out of surprise. The next time I did this exercise in early January, the wolves were still on. I described it as another surprise. There is no more surprise at the tip of the west.
The Wolves have had a few hiccups of late — their last two losses came against the San Antonio Spurs and Charlotte Hornets — but the triumvirate of Anthony Edwards, Karl-Anthony Towns and Rudy Gobert is leading the Minny to win after win..
